Jamaican Me Crazy

Joffrey's Coffee & Tea Company (since 1984) sent me a packet of coffee this week. I love the stuff, but I'm a bit unsophisticated where coffee is concerned - I don't know much about it, but do I know what I like. To me, all coffee comes in two categories: Black, and "with stuff in it." I'm going to go Black with this pot.

Step one: Opened the packet. Easy. Sniffed. First wonderful thing: It smells fresh-roasted. How do they do that? I'm guessing Magic.

Step two: Made a pot in the complimentary 12-cup coffee maker I got from Gevalia. (Quote: You may cancel your service at any time after receiving your introductory shipment and the gifts are yours to keep with no further obligation). Smells even better while it's brewing.

Step three: Poured it in the cup. Deep brown color, powerful aroma of fresh roast. (Still can't get over that.) Tentative taste. Whoa, this is nice. Bold as Donald Trump. Smooth and melodious as Alicia Keys. The aftertaste is beautiful. I want this in my mouth all day long. It's not just a cup of coffee, it's an exotic, multi-sensory experience.

Gevalia: take notice. There's a new coffee in town, and it's gonna whip yo ass!

Chocolate! (I'll beta test this anytime)

If you have not been to Roberta's Chocolates, you are missing the best chocolate you have ever tasted. I was there yesterday, and she stuffed me full of her handmade truffles. They are the absolute best treat. In addition to the usual flavors: fudge, cherry, coconut, mint, irish cream, etc., she has a bunch of new ones she's developed. Like what? Think: hazelnut, with just the right hint of nut mixed into the densest chocolate you can imagine. Yum. And banana cream pie enrobed in milk chocolate. It tasted exactly like my grandma just pulled a banana cream pie of the Norge and lightly drizzled it with milk chocolate. I wanted to bury my face in it. And then Roberta gave me a pineapple one they just finished. Oh. My. God. It was like I was sitting on a Hawaiian beach, and a native plucked a pineapple from the tree, whacked a chunk off with his machete, and handed it to me, dripping with juice. Times 100. You have to try it.

If you don't try Roberta's Chocolates, your life will be empty, devoid of purpose or reason.

I'm a beta tester!

I was accepted as a beta tester quite some time ago, for software and computer goodies. I've enjoyed it immensely. So, what has me so excited at this new beta testing opportunity? It's for the geek's elixir of the gods...coffee. Nothing could be better. I am so excited to have the opportunity to test this out. (More coming soon, I hope!)

This has got me thinking about other exciting possibilities. So, I'll put it out there for anyone else who is looking for a beta tester. I'll give special preference to chocolate, dark chocolate, chocolate with caramel, chocolate with caramel and nuts, and of course, anything from the other, less important food groups (you know, the healthy stuff).
